Afghanistan | 58" x 81" | monkcloth -
$148.00
This rug, nearly 5' x 7', would be the focal
point in a room.

Anatolian | 27" x 48" | monkscloth - $48.00 |
linen - $67.00
Orientals will fit in with virtually any decor, and this is an easy
one to hook, once it's planned out. I can see this in a red
background, or a navy as well.

Anatolian Runner | 39" x 76" | monkscloth - $94.00
| linen - $126.00
Ann Tuttle hooked this gorgeous runner and brought it to class
to pick out fringe. I couldn't resist taking a photo of it
even though it isn't totally done...she had a lot of leftovers
"reds" and we used those along with Creamed Corn, Potato Skins,
Dusty Old Blue, and Faded Jeans. We will post a photo of it
with fringe soon...Spectacular!

Antique Kuba | 40" x 72" | monkscloth - $109.00 |
linen - $149.00
A caucasian design, but with some Persian influence, adapted
from a longer original. I would enjoy working on this
oriental as it has a lot of interesting sections.

Bahktiari Pillow | 22" x 34" | monkscloth - $41.00

This pattern is a nice size to learn how to hook a caucasian
style oriental.

Bahktiari Saddlebag | 29" x 50" | monkscloth -
$56.00 | linen - $77.00
Here is a beautiful version of this wonderful oriental. The one on
the right was very nicely done by Emily Young.

Arabic Patchwork | 31" x 51" | monkscloth - $56.00
| linen - $77.00
Quite intriguing to work on...the different motifs will hold your
interest. The bottom Arabic Patchwork was done by Laura
Salvati. She wanted the look of Italian marble, so I dyed
accordingly.

Buffalo Hunt | 24" x 36" | monkscloth - $35.00 |
linen - $48.00
This unusual design looks great in southwestern homes, with typical
American Indian colouration.

Bergamo Prayer Rug | 48" x 66" | monkscloth -
$109.00 | linen - $149.00
I do like the borders in this design a lot. The left one was
beautifully hooked by Elizabeth Rowe. Wonderful colours!

Cabistan Prayer | 39" x 60" | monkscloth - $88.00
| linen - $118.00
This is a beautiful design. The original is owned by the
House of Seven Gables, Salem, MA.

Cabistan | 44" x 61" | monkscloth - $80.00 | linen
- $110.00
I took this photo of Anne Ashworth's cabistan in the early 80's, at
the very first camp i attended. I so admired her version, and never
dreamed I would own the business that had it. On the right is Agnes
Chidester's lovely Cabistan.

Chimera | 38" x 49½" | monkscloth - $60.00 | linen
- $84.00
Chimera is an unusual rug design and people report they enjoyed
working with the different colours and motif shapes. No
matter what colours you use, it always seems to be fabulous when
done.

Caucasian | 29" x 41" | monkscloth - $48.00 |
linen - $67.00
Another good pattern to learn orientals. Simple and
charming.

Early Caucasian | 15" x 28" | monkscloth - $27.00
| linen - $37.00

or as a small rug or wallhanging. Finishing directions

Chi-Chi (OE5) | 33½" x 47" | monkscloth - $53.00 |

A wonderful oriental with multiple borders, giving you a lot of
different areas to work on. You won't get bored when
working this rug!

Chi-Chi (OE27) | 38" x 53" | monkscloth - $75.00 |
linen - $104.00
There are two Chi-Chi's in my catalogue. . this one is the larger

This Chinese Carpetbag Ann Tuttle into a small rug, using typical
Chinese colours.

Chinese Dragons | 36" x 60" | monkscloth - $69.00
| linen - $96.00
Beautifully done by student Marilyn Frost, who said she didn't need
to do any rugs, only small pieces.

Chinese Musicians | 18" | monkscloth - $19.00 |
linen - $25.00
This delicate design is meant for those hookers who call a 4 cut
"wide"...definitely a highly detailed piece. It is
exquisitely Oriental when done!
The one on the left is Jasmine's "Chinese Musicians", done when she
was in her first year of college, with very capable instruction
from Nancy Elliott.

Daghestan Prayer | 40" x 62" | monkscloth - $98.00
| linen - $138.00
I so enjoyed working on this oriental. It would have been
easy to make the center diamonds repeat, but I chose to make each
one unique . There were nearly 20 different "reds" in this
rug!

Ghiodes | 36" x 54" | monkscloth - $69.00 | linen
- $96.00
A lovely Persian prayer rug, very rich colours.

Indian Carpetbag | 15" x 28" | monkscloth - $27.00

two similarly coloured ones.

Mandarin Duck | 19" x 27½" | monkscloth - $31.00 |
linen - $43.00
The top-left duck was hooked by Ann Tuttle; believe it or not we
used up a lot of leftover wool. The attractive Mandarin Duck on the
bottom-left was hooked by Ann Haley. The bottom-right one is very
richly done, while the one at the top-right was creatively done
with a wonderfully detailed background added in!

Mexican Carpetbag | 15" x 28" | monkscloth -
$27.00 | linen - $37.00
This is one of many carpet bag designs. Each can be finished
as a bag, or as a small rug or wallhanging. Finishing
directions for the bag are available, if you'd like them with your
pattern let me know.

Mini Sarouk | 24" x 40" | monkscloth - $48.00 |
linen - $67.00
For the advanced hooker not afraid of a #3 cut. This lovely
design is very intricate and a joy to hook with traditional
oriental colours. Mine utilized Old Red, Oriental Blue, and
Creamed Corn. Also I used #7 Oriental, and #132 Seagreen,
both 6 value swatches. And quite a few miscellaneous
spots!
Cosette Allen hooked the lovely Mini Sarouk at the top.

Navajo Borders | 26" x 36" | monkscloth - $41.00 |
linen - $56.00
This is a fun rug to do in earthy Indian colours...the multiple
borders add interest, and...no background!
Peg Henderson accomplished the reddish Navajo Borders above (and a
Neptune as well!) in less than 6 months. She used some unusual
colours which makes it more modern and upbeat.

Paisley Garden | 24" x 36" | monkscloth - $41.00 |
linen | $56.00
Definitely the most requested oriental pattern. Here are 2 very
different versions. My daughter, Jasmine, hooked the one on the
left when she was 15, in class with Barbara Miller. She was so
excited when it was accepted in Celebrations.

Persian Fantasy | 15 x 28 | monkscloth - $27.00 |
linen - $37.00

pattern let me know.
This Persian Fantasy was hooked by Carol Jensen.

Persian Footstool | 11" x 14" | monkscloth -
$11.50 | linen - $16.00
This neat miniature oriental can be also made into a
small mat or tote bag. My daughter, Jasmine, hooked the
red and white one when she was in high school. I do this
pattern for workshops or mini classes, so I hooked mine – the one
on the left – in 2 different colourways to give a choice of
kits! It's not very big, so you need a 3 or 4 cut. Like most
orientals.

Persian Tree of Life | 31½" x 39" | monkscloth -
$41.00 | linen - $56.00
Four attractive and different "trees." Always a pleasure to colour
plan and I liked the border too!

An unusual oriental with a terrific border, and just the right
size. The one on the right was hooked by Ann Tuttle.

Petite Persian | 28" x 36" | monkscloth - $48.00 |
linen - $67.00
This is a charming, do-able size oriental. I can't tell you
how many students I've had that did it, sometimes
twice. We've done it with blue backgrounds, and even
gold. It's easily colour planned because of the
repeats.

Prayer Carpetbag | 15" x 28" | monkscloth - $27.00
| linen - $37.00
This is one of many carpet bags. Each can be finished as a
bag, or as a small rug or wallhanging. Finishing
directions for the bag are available, if you'd like them with your
pattern let me know.
I made the bag of this in 1995 and enjoy using it.

Samarkand Prayer | 22" x 46" | monkscloth - $41.00
| linen - $56.00
This is a wonderful oriental pattern that can be a runner, or hang
on the wall. My dad hooked this particular one back in the
1980's (it's the one in the middle). He preferred to do
shaded rugs, but could no longer work them due to very poor
vision. The version on the left is by Mary Lynch.

Sarouk | 47½" x 75" | monkscloth - $109.00 | linen
- $149.00
Mary Cowan sent me this photo of her exquisite Sarouk that she did
with Sibyl Osicka. Wonderful rich colours! Who says you
can't have eggplant in an Oriental?

- $155.00
A richly coloured oriental runner, simple and
elegant.

Three Medallions | 36" x 58" | monkscloth - $75.00
| linen - $104.00
Another wonderful oriental area rug.

Tientsin | 40" x 80" | monkscloth - $98.00 | linen
- $138.00
Adapted from an early 20th century Chinese rug, shown here in two
different colourways. The red plan is by Frances
Grover.

Wineglass and Leaf Carpetbag | 15" x 28" |
monkscloth - $27.00 | linen - $37.00

bag, or as a small rug or wallhanging. Finishing
directions for the bag are available, if you'd like them with your
pattern let me know.

Woodland Leaves | 24" x 42" | monkscloth - $41.00
| linen - $56.00
This came to me as an American Indian design when I bought the New
Earth business; but why not consider using fall colours for a
different look?
